Haris Biber was scheduled to compete this past Saturday, but an unfortunate injury forced him to withdraw. During his final sparring session before the match, he suffered a broken toe — a serious setback that made fighting impossible.
This isn’t the first time Haris has faced such an issue. A few years ago, he broke a toe on his other foot and delayed treatment, which resulted in surgery and a metal screw being inserted. This time, doctors immediately placed his foot in a splint to ensure proper recovery.
Haris explained that he received the call to fight about three weeks before the scheduled date, a typical “short notice” fight scenario. Despite the limited preparation time, he didn’t hesitate.
He trained for the bout at Foati Gym in Bosnia, his home base when not training abroad. Earlier this year, he had been in the Netherlands, sharpening his skills and waiting for a fight in Dubai — which was later cancelled.
The Dubai event, organized by a new promotion, was abruptly cancelled just a week before fight night, leaving all fighters stranded and frustrated.
He described the experience as disappointing and unprofessional, especially since the event was promoted as a major opportunity for international fighters.
Despite repeated cancellations and injuries, Haris remains motivated. He continues to train smartly, focusing on recovery first.
When asked about his recovery timeline, Haris said he expects to be back in the gym within one to two months, depending on how the fracture heals.
Buzzzer host Ahmed Vila praised Haris’s professionalism and resilience, calling him one of the region’s most exciting fighters to watch.
Despite the recent setbacks, Haris’s attitude remains positive and grounded. He ended the conversation with gratitude.
