In the competitive world of professional sports, what happens behind the scenes often determines an athlete's success as much as their performance in the arena. Ahmed Villa, a professional MMA fighter, recently sat down with Arslan, a core member of the innovative Buzzer app, to shed light on the complex relationship between athletes and their management teams.

Recognizing the challenges athletes face in management and financial planning, Arslan and his team developed Buzzer, a multifaceted platform designed to empower athletes and create new opportunities.
"Buzzer is a social media platform, something which is similar to TikTok and Instagram, but more of a professional network for athletes where they can post about their wins, about their victories, their successes, what's happening in their careers," Arslan explains.
The platform addresses several key issues in the sports industry:
1. **Exposure**: Professional athletes often receive less exposure than influencers, despite their dedication and achievements. Buzzer aims to change this by creating a dedicated space for sports content.
2. **Financial Opportunities**: Beyond traditional management, Buzzer introduces innovative financial solutions through blockchain technology.
Perhaps the most innovative aspect of Buzzer is its approach to athlete financing through tokenization:
"We use something called RWA, which means a real world asset," Arslan explains. "We take a professional who evaluates the athlete's career and estimate the potential. Then we turn, let's say 10-20% of the athlete's career into a governance coin. And we create from that a DAO, which is basically a decentralized autonomous organization."
This system allows fans and investors to support athletes directly while potentially earning returns on their investment. As Arslan describes, "It's like the football manager game. You can make proposals. For example, 'Hey, Ahmed should go to Thailand and maybe he should get his stand-up better.' People make different proposals, and then you have a treasury fund."
Buzzer aims to diversify income sources for athletes, addressing the financial instability many face. As Villa notes, "It's always good getting different revenue streams. That's business 101. You never want to be stuck in just one."
The platform offers several ways for athletes to generate income:
1. **Sponsorship Deals**: Companies can connect directly with athletes for promotions and endorsements.
2. **Content Creation**: Athletes can earn through posting content and engaging with their audience.
3. **Career Tokenization**: Athletes can sell shares of their future earnings to fund current development.
Buzzer isn't just for athletes—it creates opportunities for sports fans and investors as well. The platform allows users to:
1. **Mine Buzzer Coins**: Early users can earn points that convert to Buzzer coins simply by engaging with content.
2. **Invest in Athletes**: Users can purchase tokens representing a share of an athlete's future earnings.
3. **Participate in Decision-Making**: Token holders can propose and vote on career decisions for athletes they've invested in.
"Our goal is to have a stable coin, which basically means that we have collateral where we can guarantee that one Buzzer coin equals, let's say, $1," Arslan explains. "The first million users will have the benefit to mine the coin, which is you just open up the app, use it for a few seconds, and you're identified as a regular user. You create your wallet with a few steps, and then you just watch content and earn points."
Looking ahead, Arslan envisions Buzzer transforming the sports economy:
"In five years, I see that we resolve the licenses. I would like to see that athletes see the benefits of this and that we're actually fighting together for an economy for athletes. My personal goal would be that we create a meme coin killer because most of these coins don't have a real use case."
The team is currently working on regulatory compliance, including pursuing a VARA license in Dubai, to ensure the platform operates legally and transparently across different jurisdictions.
Athletes and fans interested in joining the Buzzer revolution can download the app from Google Play or the Apple App Store. Once registered, athletes can apply for verification, while fans can begin earning points by engaging with content.
As Villa enthusiastically states, "When you have this kind of opportunity to really help the sportsmen who are bringing our society up, it melts my heart. It's all tied to sports. That's like a clean thing."
For professional athletes navigating the complex world of sports management, platforms like Buzzer represent not just a technological innovation, but a potential paradigm shift in how athletes develop their careers, manage their finances, and connect with their supporters.
