But come two years later, Palm City FC are UAE Second Division champions, UAE FA Cup winners (after beating a First Division side as underdogs), and heading to First Division football. Their coach spent a decade at Real Madrid's academy. And the guy who nobody wanted to take seriously is now the one deciding who gets a chance.

What the tour is

Palm City FC are running open tryouts across 8 European countries. Several locations are now confirmed: Germany on June 15th, the Netherlands on June 19th, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, with Sarajevo hosting on June 23rd and 24th. Additional countries including Spain, Croatia, Norway, Portugal, and Italy are also part of the tour, with dates still to be announced. 

At least one player from each country will be selected to receive a fully covered trip to Dubai in August. Standout performers could earn that opportunity too, so if you have the quality, the coaches will notice. If selected, you will get to train with the Palm City FC first team and spend time inside the club's professional environment. Impress the coaching staff, and you could walk away with a professional contract offer.

How is this different from traditional agency tryouts?

Most scouting tours you may have come across are run by agencies. You pay, you show up, you get evaluated by someone who barely remembers your name the following day. 

This is a club coming to find players. And a real club, for that matter, with a real season starting, a defined style, and a coaching staff that knows what exactly they are looking for.

Palm City's identity is the underdog. They went a goal down in the FA Cup final against a club with 45 years of history and came back to win it. They had quite a dramatic FA Cup run overall, with plenty of missed chances, losing a player to injury, tough games, and still finding a way to win.
